There I see a use case because the effort is low, it's just another box of ammo to buy and comes in handy for limited situations. Somebody told me they wanted to make subsonic 5.56 AR15 rounds for varmints with supressor. Would I buy commercially produced subs? Sure. I imagine if it were going to be some high-volume affair things could change but this is one case where the "I just want to" doesn't fit for me. I'm not saying it can't be done, plenty of people do it and do it well but I wouldn't use enough 223/5.56 subs to justify it.
